The moon casts a shadow
Over me as I roam.

Such an evil,
Nefarious scene
Has been lain out before you;
It would seem,

If this were some short story
You found
in your high-school textbook

—Written by a man
That grew old
And forgot his crimes,
We so easily forget.

These associations:

Dark equals evil,
Light is the equivalent
To goodness,

Disconnect with loss and
Attraction with gain,

Have been ingrained
In us for far too long.

I can see better tonight
Than I’ve been able to in a long time.

The clouds are gone
For now;

The stars are shining,
Like always.
